My biggest problem right now is finding outside scholarships that don’t take in financial need. (sorry if I sound like a privileged brat! just trying to save my parents money)
I recently got into Havard, and my financial aid package, according to the npc, would bring my total yearly payment to around $8,000. My mom make around $74,000, and my efc is around 14,000. Is there any point in applying?
@OklahomaMind If you are not eligible for the Pell Grant, you will not be eligible for the Gates Scholarship. I wouldn’t waste your time.
OklahomaMind, that is most likely your student contribution and the family contribution. Most of the time, the schools will offset that amount last, so if you get any other scholarships, the Harvard FA will be reduced and you’ll still owe $8000. You can ask,but that’s usually how it works. Can you afford the $8000?
