Have any of you guys gotten any feedback about interviews yet? The general email from last month said that interviews will be "scheduled in March and possibly early April."

Hey fritzitty, I applied as well, and I haven’t gotten any feedback yet. Last year, I received an interview notification in early March, but I think the staff might be running a little behind this year.

Thanks for letting me know, I was getting worried that I was denied, so this is really relieving.

How were the interviews like?

My interview was pretty in-depth. If you’re chosen for one, make sure you thoroughly research the mentor’s work and have a generally strong understanding of the subject matter. I did fairly well at my interview and ended up getting first alternate status. Unfortunately, no one dropped, so I didn’t get to participate. Perhaps I will this year, though!

I applied, as well. I’m glad I saw this thread. I was getting worried that I hadn’t made it to the interview round and was thinking about emailing my top choice professor and asking if he had any updates, but I think I’ll hold off now. I don’t want to come off as bothersome. It seems like the competition will be tougher this year, though. I know a ton of qualified people who applied.

Are both of you guys from the northern VA area?

Yep, though that was probably clear from the “location” under my username.

I applied and received a notice on March 13th for an interview on March 20th, but I agree with StudiousMaximus, this is a little later than I had expected…

Does anyone know what these interviews are like? I am already gone over my possible mentor’s lab in detail, but I’d like to know what other kinds of questions will be up.
