GMU Student Attempting to Transfer

Hello everyone,

I am currently a Freshman at George Mason University and am majoring in Government & International Politics (Mason's version of Political Science). I am attempting to transfer to either UVA, VT, or JMU. Please advise me on my chances of getting into these schools. Here's what I can tell you:

In High School:
-- 3.52 Final GPA
-- Took four AP classes (AP Gov, US History, World History, and Lang)
-- 1140 SAT (Math and CR)
-- 1740 SAT (Combined)
-- National Honor Society
-- Varsity Football for Three Years (season's resulted as State Champion, State Runner-Up, and Region Champion)
-- SCA Representative (Two Years)
-- and more

In College:
-- 4.00 GPA
-- 15 Credits in Fall Semester (STAT 250, ECON 100, GOVT 101, GEOG 101, COMM 100)
-- Taking 16 Credits in Spring Semester (English 101, Biology 103, History 125, Religion 231, Art History 101)
-- Member of College Republicans
-- Member of Circle K International
-- Captain of Intramural Football Team
-- Captain of Intramural Softball Team

Work Experience:
-- Worked as a Sales Associate at local boxing gym for one year
-- Summer Employment in Federal Government from June to August of 2010

Miscellaneous:
-- Residence is in Virginia
-- Volunteered in Virginia's 2009 State and Local Elections
-- Volunteered in Leesburg, Virginia's Mayoral and Town Council Election's in April of 2010
-- Volunteered on Election Day in November 2010 for local congressman

Please share if you get in.

Are you looking for chance responses? I would say yes to JMU, maybe to VT, and no to UVA. Just because your HS GPA was average, SATs are low, and one semester of great grades, though admirable, isn’t necessarily indicative of how a student will continue to perform. Do you have any leadership roles in ECs outside of recreational sports?

Good luck, and as wahoopeful said, let us know!!
