Can anyone please tell me the best programs offered at GMU? I am asking in terms of science and business.

High tech programs are good at GMU - computer engineering, information technology, etc. Plus the DC & Northern VA areas have great job and internship opportunities in those fields… probably why GMU ranks very high on return on investment. I don’t know as much about the business programs. GMU is also known for political science and economics has a school of conflict resolution (BA & MA available, I believe).

Thank you so much bookmouse. I am a senior in HS. While applying I declared computer science as my major. Can you guide me if I can still change my major when I start college? My other question is that I declared computer science as my major, can I change it to computer engineering? What’s the difference? I know its lot to ask but it will be a lot of help.

Yes, you can change your intended major easily before you enroll. Just let them know when you come for your orientation and fill out a form. There are actually a lot of different subcategories within computer science, including a BS in Computer Science or a BS in Applied Computer Science with a focus on Bioinformatics, Game Design, Software Engineering, or Geography. And then there is the BS in Computer Engineering. They all have different course requirements, so the best thing to do is read all the details at the link below. Also, if you visit campus and go the Engineering building they have colored handouts for each of the different degree options which makes it pretty easy to compare the requirements.

Here is a link to the different BS degrees you get in that area:
