Hey everyone

I submitted my TAMU application about a month ago, and am in the top 13% at my hs. I have a very small class, so this contributes alot to that. But I am heavily involved in extra cirriculars, AP classes, and had great reccomendations.

Here's my problem: while I had an average SAT score, I had an AWFUL ACT. I went in sick, and totally bombed the test. Do you think my ACT score is counting negatively against my application?

what were your SAT/ACT scores? we can more accurately help you if we know the scores - what is a bomb to you might not be a bomb…
What major are you applying for? Did you do any of the A&M Activities for High School Students? Take a campus tour? go to satellite admissions center? etc?
It really doesn’t matter what your class size is - top 10% is top 10%.
Did you have leadership roles in your extra cirriculars?
give us a little more information please

yep — post scores.

and it wont matter if you bombed the ACT if your SAT is good.

my sat cr+m is a 1100 and 1700 total with writing.
my act was a 21. im ashamed to even post it compared to all of the other scores on here.
:(

A&M looks more at M/CR so a 1100 SAT and a 21 ACT with top 13% is not looking too good. You said you had good ECs, recommendations, and you’re taking AP cources so that should help. What majors did you apply for?

psychology.

i work my butt off in school, my weakness is testing. i’m not a good test taker, that’s just fact. but i mean shouldn’t they be able to see that i’m a great student with my reccomendations, and extra cirriculars and stuff. and i think my class rank isn’t horrible considering that i go to a small, competitive high school. im number 36 out of 279 students. I really do work hard, but I just suck at testing.

I just hope I don’t get denied because of a horrible test.

my DD is in with 1210/1860 SAT 29 ACT and top 15%.

you are 200 points below the auto-admit level. is that too much … who knows?

you may end up getting in, but you may not hear for a while.

really, nobody here can really tell you.

good luck.

just so you know, i did get into a&m. i accepted the offer today :)

looks like a&m thought i was more than my test scores. thanks & gig 'em!

yay you!!

that is a good sign for my nephew then!

how long did you stay on step 3??

Great news! My son’s potential roommate has similar stats and is still waiting to hear.

i think i was on step three since november 18th and got my official acceptance mailed to me on the 13th of january. my total application time was exactly 2 months. good luck :)
