Go Butts!!!!!

Wu is supposed to be cozy, with booths and good food :) Many say it's the highlight of Butler.

And yes, Bloomberg is the mayor of New York, coming up for re-election this November.

I think you read that wrong, let me re-space it for clarity:

Lourie-Love 117. Yay,

lounge,

and

bathrooms on every floor

;)

Alumother, Wu is a beautiful dining hall, cheerful, bright, and cohesive. http://www.vsba.com/projects/fla_archive/250.html
Have seen most of the Princeton dining halls and Wu is my favorite, although I hear Forbes has a great brunch.

Re Bloomberg, I haven't seen the interior but by all reports it is gorgeous. It is a bit off the quad (which is going to be torn down) but in Bloomberg itself there are various facilities, such as the radio station and practice rooms for a cappella groups. The rooms are big, they are arranged as suites and singles connected by a bathroom, and it has airconditioning. I'm sure Aludaughter will be very happy...

what's 1915 hall like? are there ACs?? are there music practice rooms? (i hope there are)

If not you are a hop, skip and a jump from the music building (Woolworth), and if you are a music student you can get a key and practice whenever you want. 1915 is one of the non-Butleresque-looking Butler dorms. Couldn't be any closer to the dining hall, either. Looking good...

also can anyone tell me, how 1942 is??

Correction: Only the quads in Bloomberg have private baths; the singles have hall baths.

aparent, thanks for the photo. I have been looking for something similar. Well, guess I have the info I need.

Wu is known for having booths. Wu and Wilcox share the same kitchen, but for some reason I found the food at wilcox more appetizing (not that that's saying much). A hint is to try your hardest not to eat at butler/wilson for dinner friday-sunday.

A lot of people come to eat at both wu and wilcox because its by the math and science buildings, as well as closer to the fields and athletic facilities

however, the butler common spaces are very nice-- downstairs theres a game room with a tv and some food and upstairs theres a very nice library, that is much quieter than j-street (the wilson library)

I dont think that there are music practice rooms in 1915, although I think that there are in either wilcox or wu, both of which are close by. 1915 does not have air-conditioning (only the newly renovated/built dorms do) but it is one of the nicest buildings in butler, with decently sized singles and nice triples. The only downside is that it is a little quiet and it is removed from the main butler quad. On the other hand, i think that it is mostly freshman housing.

ec1234 - what are your thoughts on a freshman assigned to a single in Bloomberg?

are rooms in butler small compared other dorms??

I think they are pretty standard...I mean, upperclassmen have bigger rooms, and the rooms in Bloomberg are larger, but I don't think the Butler rooms are smaller than normal

bloomberg is beautiful, and brand new. There are also a lot of people in the dorm, so it should be atleast some-what social. Its easy to make friends especially as a freshman in activities and stuff. Plus there's lots of common space in bloomberg. 1915 (the girls) is also all singles, but its a lot smaller and I think that there are several entryways which breaks it up. The only problem is that there are no nicer rooms in butler, so your daughter might be a little depressed come room-draw

I second the motion for info on 1942 hall. I hope it isn't too crappy :(

No, 1942 is not crappy. It's like Lourie-Love, and right on the quad, too. One plus about those dorms is you never get a room that's a weird shape or a totally impractical set-up. They're all rectangular, with nice windows (although make sure you keep the screens shut because the squirrels at Princeton are very intelligent) and nice bathrooms. And when the exterior of Whitman gets finished, if you are on that side of 1942, you will look out your window and see collegiate gothic. :)

aaaah nice to hear some good things about 1942 :) ... also, does it have tv room and any other extra facilities other than the computer cluster???

it has me, adides, which should be enough for anyone. the end.

hah! hah hah! hah. ha...

lol !!!!!! yea that should put an end to my worries.....you can do my laundry, bring a tv .......... ( and the list goes on)

as you said you are there ;)
