So, I know my GPA will be the main reason why I'll get rejected anywhere. But my senior schedule will be of rigorous classes will center around my academic strengths [and not what my parents wanted me to do]. I found out that I suck at Chem this year... a lot. Senior year will hopefully be a pretty year.

Should I waste time on EA or should I just go for RD?

If you email the admissions office, they will tell you whether you would be better off applying EA or RD. That way, you can hear it straight from the people who make the decisions.

My gut instinct is to say that applying EA would be reasonable in your circumstance (2340 SAT! Impressive!), but again, as BillyMc said, it is probably wise to contact Admissions yourself.

I’m not so sure you should go EA based on your gpa. Also ND makes it very clear that only kids who are in the top 1-3% should go EA. The fact that your school only ranks by quartile makes it a tough call.

I agree with Billy though that you should contact your admissions rep. They will tell you.

I was accepted EA for the Class of 2014 with a lower SAT score than the OP and wasn’t even in the Top 10% of my class at a NJ public (no legacy/hooks). I think you’ve got a good enough shot to apply EA, but only if you think that your application is completely ready to submit by the EA deadline. It’s just not right to rush the application just so you can apply EA if it’s not ready. That said, I think you’re qualified to apply EA.

Go for EA. I’m asian too, and wasn’t half as qualified as you are academically when I applied. I got accepted after being deferred EA, and enrolled

really nice EC resume, you better join the ND orchestra next year if you decide to come.

No matter what university I go to I’m joining an orchestra. Unless everyone there’s a tool.

Not Catholic, liv4physicz but my impression of ND is that they accept you for any of your faiths (as long as you don’t rub it in) and I certainly don’t mind that.

It took one month but I can’t believe it, they actually responded to my email, telling me to go Early Action. That is pretty flipping sweet, that a) they responded and b) they suggested EA. If anyone sees Ms. Nguyen please hug them on my behalf.

Wow, I’m jealous of your statistics. :3 I’ll be applying to ND this fall for regular decision, but I doubt I’ll get in with my profile compared to yours. :o
Hope you get in!

Assuming a strong upward trend, not really. I got in with slightly less, an upward trend, and an SAT score a little bit lower. No minority/athlete/legacy. Tenors has a solid profile, seems to be a good fit, and should stand a good shot, assuming a good set of essays (which are valued quite a lot by Notre Dame, according to their admissions office).
