Go from a 32 ACT (no studying) to a 34+?

I took the June 2017 ACT at the end of my sophomore year and with zero studying or preparation got a 32 composite (34E,30M,34R,31S). Is it realistic to try and get a 35 on the October test if I plan on studying for it? Also, what review materials would probably work best for me? Thanks

Math: drill and kill, do as many practice tests as you can and learn any formulas you didn’t know when studying your mistakes.

Science: YouTube ACT Science videos by SuperMagnetMan and a book called For the Love of ACT Science,

I used ACT 36 from Barron’s. I didn’t use it very much but I did end up with a 36. I only got through maybe half of the English section, but what I read helped.

Thanks. Also thinking of buying the black act prep book anybody have any thoughts on it

The black book hasn’t been updated to the newer red book. Make sure you track down the right red book or the page references will be useless.

With very low math and science scores, there’s got to be a couple of obscure topics you’re not familiar with. Do you remember Law of Sines, Law of Cosines, and matrices? If not, it might make sense to review those old notes from class.

Sorry, I didn’t mean very low in general. Your math and science scores are a little low compared to the impressive caliber of your reading and English subscores.

It’s very realistic. I studied a little bit for my first ACT and got a 33 C. The first time is always the hardest and so I went in confidently the second time and got a 35. The mindset you are in means a lot.

The first ACT I ever took was a simulated practice and I got a 32C. I then studied, took it again, got a 34. Then, I got a 36 on the June one. Definitely possible but you’re going to have to work really hard. Drill drill drill drill drill. Especially with math.

It is certainly possible. However, taking any test without practice or preparation is a bad idea.
