<h1>12 Mariners Beat Three Ranked Teams At North/South Duals</h1>

<p>The #12 ranked U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team fell to #3 Delaware Valley, 31-9 but defeated #13 Wilkes, #28 York and #29 Messiah. #5 Dan Twito and #9 James Beshada both won all of their matches on the day. Co-Captain Eric Vincent also won all of his matches for the Mariners.</p>

<p>Philip Greene got the Mariners on the board for their first points against Delaware Valley when he defeated Brandon Clemmer by an 8-5 decision. Beshada won his match with a 6-3 decision over Zak Andrews. Twito beat John Giusti by a 7-1 decision for the Mariners last victory on the day. </p>

<p>Beshada recorded the first points against Wilkes when he pinned Anthony Dattolo in 6:17. The Mariner then won the next two matches with Twito beating Donald Clark by a 7-0 decision and Martin Bell pinned Richard Sparks in 6:43. USMMA lost the next match but then won the last four. Erik Schott won by a major decision against Travis Davis, 10-0. Sean Patrick defeated William Gouger by a 9-4 decision. Vincent won his match over Zach Pizarro with a 5-4 decision and Judd Connell was able to end the match with a 9-6 decision over Christopher Smith. </p>

<p>Beshada started the scoring again in the match against York with a major decision over Tyler Scarinzi, 14-3. Twito and Bell then both won their matches. Twito won by an 8-7 decision over Albert Gleichauf and Bell pinned Eric Rush in 2:05. Connell and Vincent won the last two matches to give the Mariners the victory. Connell defeated George Saliba by a 4-1 decision and Vincent beat Shane Cooley by a 7-1 decision. </p>

<p>Jordan Alfaro won his only match of the day against Messiah to get the Mariners started with a 6-0 decision. USMMA won the next three matches with Greene, Beshada and Twito. Greene won an 11-5 decision over Rich Pennisi, Beshada won by a 4-0 decision over Alex DeHart and Twito defeated Mike Bressler by a 9-3 decision. Connell and Vincent once again finished the match strong with two victories. Connell beat Tim Hopkins in a 5-2 decision while Vincent pinned Zane Bachert in 2:12.</p>

<p>The wrestling team returns to action on Thursday, January 8th when they travel to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The match is scheduled for 7:00 pm and the last time the two team met, the Mariners defeated the Bears 38-0 in Kings Point, NY.</p>

"VMI will host the 15th Annual All-Academy Wrestling Championships on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Cocke Hall. The action will get underway at 9:30 a.m. as eight military institutions will compete for mat supremacy. </p>

<p>Competing at the meet will be the wrestling teams from the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, The Citadel, Norwich and VMI. </p>

<p>The action will take place on two mats at VMI's "Thunderdome", located on post at Cocke Hall. Admission is $10 for adults, while students of all ages will be admitted for free. Parking for the event is located at the North Institute Hill parking lot, and directions are listed below."</p>
