GO TO HOUSING.FSU.EDU it will give your decision!!!!

Dnerd: The housing deposit is $225. Pretty much insane in my opinion. It depends. Housing deposits can be made with financial aid, in full payments or installments. The installments aren’t much better where as they run approximately $580 a month due on the first of each month starting on Jan 1st. Then orientation fees are $35. You won’t know about tuition until after you sign up for classes.

FloridaStatex3: I applied for Spring 2010 as transfer student. FSU sent out decisions for Spring transfers on Dec. 7th. I guess it was just a fluke I found out Friday.

Oh, well my tuition is going to be paid for with bright futures, first-gen student grant, poor person with an EFC of 0 grant, etc… But, how can I have my housing deposit paid with FA since we can’t even apply for FAFSA until our parents get their 2009 salary info which usually isn’t out until mid-late January? Then they have to actually do their taxes and wait for the forms to come back before filing FAFSA. That’s going to take more than 10 days, so I’m going to end up with some crappy housing or none at all :(

Relax Dnerd! I’m pretty much in the same boat. I used 2008 tax forms for my FAFSA. Just do that and turn it in. When you get the 2009 tax forms just update it. I doubt your EFC will change that much from last year.

You got a first gen student grant? I wonder what the reqs for that are, I should have got one…wait…no never mind, my dad did get his AA. Oh well…

I had to pay the housing deposit myself, but after that bright futures or my other FA will pay for housing.

DNERD: Apply for housing when you get the acceptance whether you can pay for housing now or not. Get a priority number. Then call housing in the next 3-5 days and find out about the FA situation. You have nothing to loose by getting a number. If you loose your number you get another one when you apply for one again.

Get a number, then call FA and Housing. You never know… And housing priority numbers ARE NOT BAD at all until the second decision date. Once they start letting the second round of admits know, the numbers go up fast. You have got some time. Hustle over the holidays if you can and try to make $225. GOOD LUCK.

Wooohooo I am excited!

I just want to say a big “thank-you” for the information provided in this discussion. It helped us so much! I was able to see the deposit owed at just the time indicated and by jumping on housing at midnight, my son got #35.
