I'm wondering the same. It seems like you have to be a big sports fan or an outdoor activity lover to be happy at Oregon. True?

When I mention that my son has gotten into several CA schools (we live in CA) I get "oh that's nice" kind of reaction. Then when I say he also got into Oregon their eyes light up and they have a "my son/daughter/niece or whomever goes or went there and absolutely loved it"! They almost always say that it is a true college experience. Great campus, town, sports, and people. The weather never seems to be an issue. Not too big or small. And they say that my wife and I will love visiting!
We plan to go up and check it out in 2 weeks. Hope my son has the same reaction.

It's a lovely campus in a nice hip little city, slodad. I have friends in the Bay Area who also have their eye on UO for their son.

'rentof2 thanks. have you ever been to san luis obispo in ca? that's where we live and i'm wondering how eugene compares?

Oh dear, although I am from California it's been SO long since I vistied in San Luis Obispo that I couldn't really compare it with Eugene.

We live about 3 hours from Eugene, but I have occasion to go there for various reasons and always enjoy it. Plus it's only a couple hours from Portland which is also a really terrific city. My daughter has also been accepted to UO, and now she's just waiting to hear back from the honors college. Poor kid feels like she's been waiting for l-o-n-g time!

I am at UO right and now and if I had to do it over I wouldn't do it again
