<p>Hi, my name is Aubi and I am a Junior and live in Pennsylvania. I am an Indian and can speak English and Hindi. I want to become a nurse anesthesiologist.I wanted to know my chances of getting into these nursing schools in this priority.

<p>GPA: 4.17 (If junior year would end today this would be it)
-top 13% in my class
My school is ranked top 30 in state</p>
<p>SAT/PSAT
-My highest PSAT score is a 220
-Highest SAT score is a 2160 (800 in math, 650 in reading, 710 in writing)
-I have taken two SAT Subject tests and got a 800, and a 710
-Don't know if I should take ACT</p>
<p>Extracurricular Activities (Based on end of Senior year)
-Mock trial (4 years): witness (2), attorney (3) had a double role once
-Student Gov (3 years): was head of class my junior and (senior year probably)
-Model UN (2 years)
-Attended Pittsburgh Global Affairs Council Meetings (4 years)
-Local Medicine class at University of Pittsburgh (3 years)
-Future Doctors of America (2) (just started based on input I got on CC)
-FBLA (3 years): made it to states 2 of the years
-National Honors Academy (2 years)
-NSHSS (3 years)
-Volunteer: 75-80 hours
4 letter of recommendations; teacher (2), physician (2) </p>
<p>Can you please help me out and tell me my chances for the institutions listed above</p>
<p>MBenz I am not one capable of matching you, because you clearly have better grades than I do. But, you should DEFINITELY take the ACT all I have been hearing from college visits is how it is becoming almost if not as important as the SAT.
Your grades are fantastic but hey, it won’t hurt to take the test, hopefully do well, and submit it to even better help stand you out from the rest of the crowd.</p>
<p>@Tierclem ok someone else also told me to take the ACT. Others have told me that the ACT is more valuable in he west and most of my colleges are in the east. Nonetheless you are correct and I will take that into consideration. Thanks</p>
<p>Your SAT and PSAT scores look amazing. That definitely boosts your chances. Your extracurricular makes me jealous, and your grades are nice. I’d say it wouldn’t be too hard for you to get into Pittsburg, Duke, and Rush. Hopkins and Penn is really competitive so I wouldn’t know. </p>
<p>You don’t need to attend an expensive prestigious nursing school in order to enroll into a CRNA school. You will have to receive at least 2 years of ICU experience before you can apply for CRNA school. Your college is really a NON issue and provides absolutely NO help not even a smidgen. You will have your grades, GRE, LOR, essay and interviews to get you in.</p>
<p>@frugaldoctor Iv been researching online and most websites say get a degree in nursing (4) and then 1 year of experience through the college that I earned my bachelors . After the experience I am planning to attend the same college to become a CRNA. </p>
<p>I’d say that Pittsburgh & Rush are matches, Duke is a high match, and the other two are reaches because they are competitive schools. I do think you have a great shot at all of them! If you can bring up your reading to a 700, I’d say you can get into any of those colleges (Your score is still amazing)</p>
<p>@jr2015br I have gotten straight B’s in Honors English in 9th(87), 10th(88) and 11th(so far). Everything else has been a A-, A, A+. I THINK(not sure) its .5 for honors and 1 for AP.</p>
<p>@AlexAggs thanks I was a little opportunistic because I had pretty good recommendations from doctors themselves. But you are correct my reading SAT score is subpar. </p>
<p>Some schools require 1 year others require 2 years of experience. You really need more than a year. I have heard CRNAs say this.</p>
<p>Let me tell you a very good reason why you shouldn’t attend those prestigious schools for your CRNA training. You have to get experience and develop a case log during the clinical part of CRNA training. If you attend a school with an anesthesiology residency, those residents usually get the preferences and the bulk of those cases. CRNAs who have received great training have done so in programs or hospitals without anesthesiology residencies. Most of those prestigious schools have large MDA residencies. </p>
<p>Lastly, don’t amass UG debt and then even more debt for graduate school. That doesn’t make sense in this health care environment. </p>
<p>@frugaldoctor These schools also excel in medicine but they also have fantastic nursing programs. The CRNA that I shadowed under was also a University of Pennsylvania graduate who got a better starting salary then most CRNAs’. She as well as others have told me that I should be looking to go into good nursing colleges that also provide a well known program for anesthesia. However thanks for your input as it is highly beneficial. </p>
<p>OP…sorry to be a stickler…but there is no such thing as nurse anesthesiologists…in medicine we call them nurse anesthetists…</p>
<p>…anesthesiologists are MDs who have finished their residency in anesthesiology. And by the way, Mayo Clinic has one of the finest CRNA programs in the country…</p>
<p>No problem. By the way…if you truly have your mind set on becoming a CRNA…I would strongly recommend finding the cheapest cost-efficient good program near where you want to practice or settle down…since most CRNAs like medical residents have the easiest time finding jobs close to wear they did their training…</p>
<p>…the reason why I say this is…in MOST medical fields…people don’t care where you got your education/training…outside of going into academia…</p>
