Call me silly, but i pray all the time for good grades; as if my if my life depended on them. Since my college career, i have been very attentive to the marks i recieve from my classes, and thats why i spend laborious ours ensuring that i recieve the highest grades in all my classes. However, i do pray to the lord for his sagacious providence. Call me cheezy, but somedays, i know for a fact i am being guided. Something, whatever you call it god, primemover, has influence on the directions i divulge into. Anyways, any of you guys pray for your well being, as well as your academic success.?

I used to pray for good grades...and then, about 2 years ago, I stopped praying for anything that should be under my control-- such as performing well on a midterm.

Yes, i still pray for good grades and guidance so that i can accomplish my dream

guidance, yes. praying for good grades, no. it's my opinion that god helps those who helps themselves.

Yes. I agree with all of you.
I think you've got to work for it, while praying. God will guide you through.. but you will need not to be lazy. =)

Keep you spirit up!

Pray for things you have no control over, do not pray for things that you can achieve by yourself but are too lazy to. Thats just selfish. I never pray for my grades, but after I apply to schools I pray they accept me because I have already done everything and have no more control over how they view my application.

I actually pray to myself, by the same logic that gshikunov expressed. I believe that the sky is the limit.

zemoookmook.... yes of course, it would be quite foolish if did nothing and just prayed thats absolutly asanine. thats not what i was getting at. i mean work hard, and pray. in my homeland in araballe, jordan, thier is a saying, do what you can to the best and leave the rest in gods hands. or in arabic " eb eed allah" which means in the hands of god. obviously, we as men, can do our best ( and we should always do) but somethings arent left to our own discretion; hence, the prayer for god.

excellent point gshikunov, but i still pray for good grades. i guess its just my own natural inclination to pray. of course i work my buttoff, indolence and prayer are incoherent. for example, i have an overall 98% in my calc class(70% weight), i took the final (weights 30% ) the other day, got my final grade today, and it was an A. despite my high grade, i could have easily messed up, as all humans have a tendency to do so. i thought the final to be hard, but i know my answers were rights, my final grade stands as a testament. but we humans make mistakes, despite our endeavores and sinceriest efforts. i guess one could say, i pray to god to light the path for the road i have built.

just pray that you would glorify Him in everything that you do, and He will take care of the rest :]

Well, I agree that human errors are common and of course you can pray for something like that. I just really feel bad about praying for personal gain when there are so many other things on earth that need help much more then my GPA.

I'll be doing a lot of praying though come December when I apply for transfers because for some reason I have this feeling that no one will accept me. Check out my post in the "Chances" forum if you have the time.

i pray mostly for god to help me get through tough things. usually i don't pray about tests or SATs or anything...i might pray right before i check scores though, but who doesn't? that ain't real prayer :D
i pray mostly when i have sinned and i'm trying to evade punishment :D

when i have a midterm/final in 2 hours and i haven't been to class nor read the book you better believe i'm praying.

gshikunov your right. but god loves us all equally. i doubt you will be taking much of his time to ask him for guidince, despites how microcosmic the demand is. and to hobofromdowntown and jimbob1225, i guess what they say is right, " there are no atheistis in foxholes." even the biggest athiestis genuflect before the eyes of god when thier in a predicament.

yea god helps those who help themselves <-- so true

I do not believe in God therefore I see no reason to pray for good grades. But you can be sure as hell I hope my work payed off to get the grade I want. Im sure all of you can succeed on your own merit.

It's not god that guides you...
Through praying you get to think and evaluate over your progress and become more focused on your goal, so naturally you get more motivated to do well in your classes. That's what gives you good grade.

It ain't no God or any Bull crap like that.

Afterall, religion and god are all illusionary concept created by human when they were all naive and paranoia about natural disasters. God is no genie. He (or she) can't do anything for you. Only YOU can accomplish your goal.

Very adequately put dhl3.

dhl3 i know u would start this crap. this is not a discussion over gods exsistance. dhl replace god with the "creator" w/e u wanna call him. if god doesnt exsist my friend why is thier existance, when thier is not? somethnig created all this. this keyboard is made by man, but its make up was made by another. dont say god doesnt exsist because thats utterly stupid. you dont want to believe god created us, fine, but someone created the atoms that make us. w/e i dont wanna discuss this. please stay on the topic. your an atheist? congrats. at least i know, i have someone to look to when i require guidance. despite him being thier or not, at least he makes me feel a lot safer. thats more than enough for me to believe in him.

ummm... I didn't start anything. o.O
wth is your problem...

*btw, im not an atheist. I'm an agnostic. but w/e, as you said, let's not discuss about God's existence.
