Prestige is DEFINITELY NOT what my friend has taken issue with...and to say he's taken issue with anything at SLU is too strong of word.

I believe my friend does regret his own performance (or more accurately the timing of his activities) and the fact that it prevented him from getting into his home-state school - the med school I'm currently attending. He, very appropriately I might add, applied to SLU because he felt he was competitively there, and he was (unlike many on this board) focused on getting in somewhere rather than on the prestigious name. His regret comes from the fact that he applied ED to the home state med school (which meant he did not get a second interview later in the year), and then did a bunch of shadowing and volunteer work over the course of his senior year. His SLU interview was in March, and by then he was able to discuss over 100 hours of shadowing/volunteering that had not been on his AMCAS or secondary.

Further I don't think he questions the quality of his education, but perhaps the exact "bang for his buck" he has gotten. He has many friends at my school, and I know he looks at the debt load he has vs. what we have, and feels at a disadvantage.

I wouldn't mind a merit scholarship or something to go to SLU. But at the FA session, it didn't sound like they had a lot of grant money lying around.

SLU is Saint Louis Univ. and not wash U. in STL right?

Got the call from Dr. Neumeyer today...I got into Tufts! Out of the 8 schools I've interviewed at so far, I've only truly truly liked 3 of them and Tufts is one of those three. I'm def. excited!

Congrats NCG! Awesome! No place is better than Boston....this is coming from someone who visits NY city couple of times a month.

Nice work NCG, glad to hear it.

Hey buddy -- Congrats. What are the other two you're waiting on?

By the way, Tufts is pretty close to China town. You can walk down in 5-7 mins to some really good steaming hot cantonese noodles and shumei.

Totally agree with ya Pharmagal. I was in NYC last week interviewing and it reminded me why I don't like NYC. I don't hate it and I definitely want to go to school in an urban area but I'd prefer smaller cities like DC, Philly, or Boston.

Mike, UMich and Penn are the two other schools I absolutely love. Penn is a little ahead of Michigan due to the location. But I'm not holding my breath for either. I've already been deferred at Michigan and I'll have to wait till March for Penn decisions.

^norcalguy, congratz already on your first acceptance. im sure there would be more interviews to come.

congrats on the acceptance man. you definitely deserved it.

Grats on getting into a place you really like. :D I'm sure there will be more acceptances to come.

Deferred AGAIN from Umich. Now I have 5 decisions in March to wait for. Arraggh!!!!!
