Goddard vs. Hayden

Alright, so I've done tons of research, and narrowed my list down to either Goddard or Hayden. The thing is, I've heard a lot more about Hayden- mainly about how it's such an amazing party dorm, though a couple of people have told me that people there tend to be a bit snobby. I'm really pretty social so I would like a fun dorm, but not a completely crazy parading-around-naked -at-four-in-the-morning dorm :) Is Hayden a bit too crazy, or just like any college dorm?
And about Goddard, I liked the idea of a smaller sense of community within a place as huge as NYU, but I've heard some really negative things about it. It's been called 'anti-social' and 'where all the weirdos live.' I like the idea of explorations (especially Writing New York), but how far are these statements about Goddard true, because I definitely don't want to live in a really anti social dorm.
Also, generally as far as dorms go, rooms, location, R.A.'s etc, how are the two dorms in comparision?

Goddard is termed anti-social for a variety of reasons. Few people know Goddard kids because it is the smallest dorm and Goddard kids mostly hang out with other Goddard kids (which is good and bad depending on perspective). Also Goddard is not a party dorm. People go to other dorms or go out clubbing. In addition, as Goddard is in the middle of the campus, students have less reason to really walk around as much to see other people.

It is "where all the weirdos live" seems to come from the fact that the average Goddardite is an overachiever. Who in their right mind fills out an application when they don't have to? A consequence of this seems to be that we have a disproportionate number of activists and student leaders.

The major gripes for people that live in Goddard are that we don't have parties and that we have to do community service and go to events. It is weird that the latter is a major reason given that the rescollege application implies that people will be expected to do community service and go to events. A not so outspoken gripe is that we don't have a dining hall so we have to walk for dining hall food.

I personally think that Goddard has better rooms. There are mold problems in some of the bathrooms, but not enough to cause people to move out or anything. We defintely have a better hallway (fosters community in that everyone hangs out in the hallway). Our elevators are pretty spacious too. The location is awesome because classes are a minute away. Cannot compare R.A.'s, but they are good too.

I'll leave Hayden for someone who has had the Hayden experience. Just have to say though that I do know a few kids that live in Hayden that are not full-blown partyers that hate living there. I also hear quite a few crazy stories about partying at hayden. But most other people seem to love it, so blah.

Wow thank you that was really very helpful. I'm leaning more towards Hayden now :D
