going a day late on move in day

i live in socal and my move in day is on sunday (unit 1 double).. but there is a big problem. i can't get to berkeley by sunday! my parents need to go to church on sunday morning. so that means i'll probably leave around 3... and it takes about 7-8 hours to drive up there. so i was wondering if im allowed to check in... (move in) on monday... doesn't anybody know?

first of all its like a 5 hour drive...(4 hour non stop going 80 mph) .... but yea u can move in any day i think..

I wish it was a 5 hour drive!! It's a 7-8 hour drive from SoCal where I am. I'm actually going up in two days...talk about agony, I doubt I can get my mom to go 80 and make it in one day. At least I am getting to Berkeley on the 20th :)

I think you will be ok, blah.

The move-in website FAQ's says:

After 5:00 pm: You can check in by going to your assigned unit’s office, checking the duty schedule that is posted on the front door, and contacting the staff member who will check you in.

yeah... from where i live its 7-8 hours. i live in orange county.

hm.. im wondering if i should still call them and tell them that im going to be a day late.

Ill move in on monday, just gonna walk in as I'm on time.
I dont think you have to tell them, except for your roommate(s), if you want.

You'll miss all of the breaking-the-ice junk and won't make any friends.

I'm moving in on the 22nd (coming from Texas) and I emailed the unit ra lady and she said it was completely fine. I emailed my roommates too; you might want to do that.
