I'm currently a senior at UCSD, and my plan was to attend UCSD IR/PS after taking a year off in between. However, I have recently thought about going abroad to study, specifically Korea (Yonsei University). They have a graduate school of international studies, and at IR/PS I was planning to focus on the Korea region. I figured it would be a better experience for me to go to school there. I'm just wondering if it is a good move...Would not going to a school in the US disadvantage me for jobs back in the US? I know UCSD IR/PS is a very prestigious school, and I know Yonsei is prestigious as well but will it affect career choices availability? I'm not concerned with rank but I want to make sure I will not regret studying abroad. Please help!

Perhaps. The disadvantage may be lower in prestigious international schools and schools that are English-speaking - for example, Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, UCL would not be a disadvantage. Yonsei? It depends on their reputation in your field in the US. Talk to some of your professors.

If you want to live and work in Korea than a Yonsei degree will be awesome. If you want to live and work in the US, then a US degree will probably be better, but you can always work in Korea for some years to improve your Korean skills and get cultural fluency.
