Going back to college with a new major

I just graduated from College with an Advertising degree but I want to go back school and get a completely new degree in education. Does anyone know how or where to apply for this? thanks!

You need to know which state you want to teach in, so that you can take the courses necessary for certification in that state.

You need to know what subject area(s) and what grade(s) you want to teach.

Then your options could include (among others):

 1. A one or two year M.Ed. with certification program, or an M.A.T. program;
 2. A quickie no-degree certification program such as the Maryland State Resident Teacher Certification Program that is offered in conjunction with a school district and a community college;
 3. A second Bachelor’s degree in Education in the subject(s) and grade(s) that you want to teach;
 4. Re-enrolling at your first college/university just for the classes needed for the teacher training program if one is offered there.

Your least expensive options would probably be at one of your home-state public universities, or a community college that offers a teacher-training program. Your quickest option (if you want to teach something closely related to your undergraduate major) would probably be to return to your first college/university.

Google “teacher certification X state” and see what comes up.
