My daughter paid a deposit and deferred an all womens school, School A for a year, thinking that she might like to go if she had the benefit of a year of world travel. She then thought better of it and sent in a deposit to BU. She notified School A back in August 04 of her matriculating at BU in September.
Now after being at BU for a semester she thinks she made a mistake. As it happens, we got something in the mail --encouraging her to fill out some financial aid forms for school A. I am not sure if they got that summer notification or not! She has already gotten a semester's, and she will have a full years worth of great grades and credits but she would like to go to school A now. How is this best handled???? She now realizes that there really is something to quality of education.. and not being with boys everyday and in every environment just may be more than ok!

I think this is a case where a phone call from your daughter to an admissions counselor at the school would be the best course of action. Only they can answer the question of whether they have still kept her file open or whether she would need to go through the application process as a transfer (most likely, I suspect). I would not assume that they didn't receive that letter last summer. But I would have your daughter call and speak to someone in admissions directly about this entire question.
