But but but…
You are going back for another year anyway, right? And then it’s just one more until finals! And you are doing phenomenally well!
Can’t you stick it out and go back Home for grad school? I assume you were planning to anyway and your academic standing would be sooo much better.
Believe me, I do know exactly what you are talking about. But there are the wonderful bits, too. Have you gotten into music? Rowing? Theater? Those are, off the cuff, the opportunities I can think of where you can find a way into “native” groups and gain some respect. But if you have followed politics at all over the last three years you will know that there are groups whose respect you will never gain, but whose respect you do. Not. Need.
Stick to other internationals, to state school students, to people who go out of their way to do things well apart from scraping by until finals doing the required essays and otherwise getting drunk. Your peeps are there to be found though they may not be the majority whose acceptance you may have craved but you will never get. I am sure some similar divides exist at US schools with a high proportion of kids of one percenters as well (I recall threads about places such as UVA or Amherst). The grass will certainly be different, but it may not be that much greener.
What’s your college? PM me if you don’t want to say. There are hardly any left with “vast majorities” of privately educated students.
