Going from Undergrad to Grad Degree?

Hey everyone,

Do you have a better chance of being admitted into a Graduate Degree program if you got your Undergraduate Degree at the same college?
I'm getting my basics done at a communtiy college, but I am trying to decide where to transfer because not all of the possible colleges offer a Doctorate in what I want.

Thanks!

No, you don’t normally have a better chance at admission to a grad program just because you did your undergraduate work at that college/university. Some grad programs specifically don’t admit their own undergraduates! Also, it is entirely possible that the college/university that is best for you for your undergraduate studies doesn’t have a graduate program at all.

You should choose your transfer-to list based on the opportunities that are offered to undergraduates. Don’t worry about whether or not there is a graduate program.
