going from university to community college

I am strongly considering going from a university to a community college. Will it affect me a large amount? My main reason is to save money, I thought leaving for college was best for me, but at this time it is not. I was wondering will it affect me if i try to transfer after i am done at the community college?

Are you a freshman at the university? Just started a couple of months ago?

yes i am. would it be bad for me to go to a community college?

i doubt it will hurt you.

After completion of CC, you will need to send your transcript form current school and CC to the 4 year schools you are applying to. There will likely be somewhere you can write your explanation. IF your grades are good, it will not be because you had to leave. Try and keep your grades up at your current school. I think admissions reps will understand economical issues given the current economic climate.

Good luck to you.

thanks crazed my grades are fine, i just do not like the atmosphere at the university i am attending and it would be must cheaper for me to just attend a cc first

People do this all the time for a variety of reasons. When you reapply to a 4-year school just be sure to send them all your transcripts; don’t decide to ignore your time at the U because this is something that is quickly found out.

I did the same thing. I actually found it to be a better experience for my first two years since the classes are smaller than the large 100+ classes at my first university. It’s not hard to transfer afterward.

thanks a bunch guys :)

Hey,
just wondering (because I have been planning on transferring, either back home to save money or to a better school - I am trying to convince my parents to let me transfer home), are you a freshman now going to CC as a sophomore, then planning on transfer junior year again?
