Going home

How do Cornellians who live far away typically go home during breaks? Do they travel out of the Ithaca airport or go to a larger airport such as the one in Syracuse?

I find that most people fly out of Syracuse if they can. Flying out of Ithaca is expensive and you're limited to US Airways or Northwest. The Student Assembly provides funds for a shuttle service to get students to the Syracuse airport for Thanksgiving and I think Christmas.

also students who live further than driving distance usually don't go home during the shorter breaks. they either stay on campus or go home with a friend who lives close by. Most people go home during summer and winter breaks though.

i'm from texas and for the thanksgiving break i stay on campus...i cant afford those crazy flight prices...

there is a thxgiving dinner put on by cornell, but tickets sell fast so you must buy early...

fall break is another break i stay at cornell for...this is usually paper time and theres always something to do at cornell!!!

another question: at winter break, do the dorms close on the day the break begins (which is the day after exams end, i'm assuming) or a little bit later so that everyone who wants to travel has time to leave?

the dorms close at noon on the day after the last exam period...

hopefully, I have a place to stay during the winter break. HILC is always open, woot!
