Do you suggest it? There are so many options like finding a roommate on Facebook or other sites similar to it. Do you think Michigan State does a good job matching roommates?

It’s fine. Very few people have bad roommates. They don’t match roommates IIRC except randomly. Or less randomly if you’re in a residential college.

Thanks! I’m just worried because I’m a kind of quiet person who doesn’t drink or anything. I just don’t want to be matched up with someone who I won’t mesh with, ya know?

That’s what happened to me… kind of.

I’m extremely quiet, shy, and I never drink. My roommate was loud, popular, and partied 3-4 times a week. However, she was very nice and we got along fine. We were never good friends by any means, but there was never any friction.

I became good friends with someone during freshmen year that I have lived with for 2 years and we will continue to live together next year along with my boyfriend. My boyfriend roomed blind for 3 years and he never had a bad roommate either.

So don’t worry :)

Good. I’m glad MSU knows how to match people well. :)

Nah it’s not really about “matching people well” at all as it is completely random at MSU as far as I know (you can choose “quiet housing” though). It’s really all about luck - a lot of people have done the facebook/roommate match thing and ends up they still don’t get along. I roomed blind and my freshman year roommate is my best friend (became my sophomore year roommate and now senior year housemate).
