hey guyz i'm going to go to india this summer for something like a aid/missions trip to a Tsunami hit area.

i was wondering if this kind of work would help my EC. because a lot of hard work was required to prepare for this kind of thing. i hard to work to make $1200 for the plane tickets...etc

-Bring insect spay (the one with the most deet)
-smells like ass over there because of all the pollution
-dont get ripped off by all the people (they will overcharge you)
-go to Delhi Akshardham

India for me was boring. It will probably be the same for you.

Bring a sleeping bag unless you like insects

Buy a cheap pair of shoes just for India (I ruined my favorite pair of Penguins because I took them there)

I would buy an ipod shuffle or something because you might get bored meeting relatives youve never seen before

Practice giving off fake smiles

as you can see I didnt really enjoy India..and I too am going this summer

ps: air india blows go singapore or british air

oops didnt read the tsunami thing..I thought you were being forced on some family trip

I want to do volenteer stuff with the tsunami things (actually I really want to tutor some village children again) but my parents are making me go on some tour of relatives ive never seen

ME TOO :) haha we've gone singapore and cathay pacific but this time we are going british air :D.

my advice:
-bring hw/stuff to do
-boil all water before you drink it
-if drinking any soda, drink coke or fanta
-bring your own straws; the straws in india dont have paper covers and so they have dust and crap
-eat cooked food
-buy dettol soap, its antibacterial and stuff
-if you are a girl, don't use the fair-skin creams because they are hazardous to your health.

or...... you can be a man about your experience

def bring hw to do.... it can be boring.

don't boil the water --> be a man

drink thumbs up

don't use a straw

eat PANI PURI like crazy (who cares if you get diarrahea, it's worth it)

j/k about above point if you DO get diarrhea from stuff like that.... I can handle anything from India and not get sick....... :)

soap? it's India. no one uses soap. water = best

if you're a girl going to India, you don't need fair-skin cream. you're gonna be the whitest person there.

It would obviously boost your ECs profile, but only if you're genuinely interested in helping others. If you're doing the trip solely because you want to boost your college admissions chances, I'd recommend you not take the trip.

i mean i can't say its just soley for my college admission...i mean i'm going there with my youth group - i love God and that's how i can show it

Go to India, it'll be an enlightening experience. I mean, not many people have the chance to go out of the country, so enjoy it! If it helps you in life, then woopy! If not, at least you traveled abroad and learned something new about a culture.
