Going into 2nd year starting a 5 year program...

I didn't really know what I wanted to do coming into my first year of college so I took engineering and business courses as well as liberal arts. I am going into my second year and I have decided that I want to pursue industrial engineering which is a 5 year program at my school.

Should I worry that it will probably that I will be here for 6 years or should I find a college with a 4 year program? If I stay where I am I will have the opportunity to co op.

A lot of engineering programs are 4.5 to 5 years. Don’t worry about it if it’s what you want to do. If you enjoy where you’re at right now and the future opportunities available, just stay with it. Switching schools is a hassle and there’s a chance you won’t like the new school.

If finances aren’t an issue, then it’s up to you on the extra year of your life. I think that it’s a great time to be in engineering right now (speaking as an engineer).
