I am about to go into my Senior year of highschool and will be graduating in 2010 and am in state. I hope to get into FSU. I am curious, what are my chances?

GPA (U) : 3.1
GPA (W) : 4.3

SAT Score : 1150 (Retaking in October and hope to get 1200+)

AP's Taken : AP World History, AP US History, AP Language, AP Environmental Science, AP Psychology.) (Senior Year I am taking AP Euro, AP Macro, AP Micro, AP Bio, and AP US Govt)

E.C.s : 4 Year Varsity Soccer starter, 2 Years Latin Club, Youth in Government, Future Business Leaders of America, Ecology Club, and a couple others.

From recently graduated seniors at my school with similar stats, ucf and fsu were easily attained and most were accepted. We had more than a few get in to both of these schools with generally fewer APs and lower GPAs than you.

I’m actually planning to apply to fsu next year,my grades/SATs are similar to yours, and my counselors have told me fsu and ucf are acceptances I should be able to count on.

Apply early! When applying to FSU, apply during the first round (this year’s cutoff date was October 10th). At UCF, also apply no later than October. Both schools start accepting applications at the end of August, beginning of September. Applications need to be COMPLETED before the admissions committee reviews it, so that may take time, too.

If you apply closer to Thanksgiving or the 2nd round at FSU (October 11-end of February), chances are slim even for those that meet or slightly exceed the norm.

If you are still concerned about getting accepted you may want to consider applying for summer admission. Standards for summer admission are often not as stringent as it is for the fall.

Also, try taking the ACT test in addition to the SAT.

I think you’re gonna get into both schools just fine. BUUTT apply really early like JerseyShoreMom says. Not so much for the chances, I think you’ll get in just fine regardless based on people I know who got in with lower stats. But you don’t wanna risk it and most important of all, you want scholarship money. For FSU it’s almost a given that if you apply in the second group, you’re not getting any money so apply for the first deadline. For UCF there is no set deadline but still apply as soon as possible to make sure they give you something as well. Good luck!
