I want to become a pediatrician. I am currently a senior and I am graduating next month. I want to start college next fall but have no idea where to go. I live in Pensacola, FL and want to stay kinda close to home. I also am a bright futures scholar which means, my college is paid for as long as I stay in the state of Florida. I know that I need to go 4 years pre-med, 4 yrs med, a 1 yr internship and 2 yr residency. I was wondering is anyone knew if UWF has a pre-med program? I want to go to med-school at UF but I want to stay around here for pre-med. Any suggestions?

pre-med is not a major. Most medical school do not care what you major in but do require you to take certain pre req courses (biology/chem etc etc). It is wise to attend your State U on the full ride so you have no debt for your undergrad. The State U will probably have a premed advisor - Look at the web sites of the schools you are interested in and do a search for pre medical or premedical advisor. For instance I did a quick search in the UWF site and found this

What my D hears is major in something you will can make a career if med school does not happen - a plan B. Also most State medical schools give preference to their instate residents and med school will be cheaper for you in Florida.
