Going on a UC Tour???

Has anyone gone to any tours at UC? I'm considering it but I don't know if it's worth it. Do the schools keep track of visits when considering your application?

^
What? Why would they? o__O;; They probably would never know that you went to go visit the campus.

If you are planning on applying to UC’s, a tour is ALWAYS worth it. Any school you apply to that you consider attending you should visit.

Go on a normal school day and take a guided tour as well as take an hour or two to walk around by yourself (with a friend, parent, whatever). It’s like choosing a car or apartment without looking at it first…not smart (unless the school is across the country and you don’t have to money to visit)

I wasn’t really sure which college I would pick a few weeks before the deadline and I’d gone on couple college tours for the places I got into, but as soon as I went to UCSD and took a tour, I knew that was my school. I saw myself being happy there and while the other schools I went to were nice, after visiting UCSD, I was confident that I would be happy there (and I am…so far so good!)

So, bottom line…if you can, GO on a tour (not on a weekend or holiday, though)

I actually came back from a UC tour. here are my two cents of each campus

Cal - had that whole “prestigious academic” feeling to it, tons of tradition on-campus, has a cool tower!, housing is a little weird insofar they are spread-out, tons of hobos (some are pretty cool though)…

UCLA - the stereotypical “college” feeling (probably because most college films were filmed there), nice buildings, housing hill is pretty sick, nice surrounding town, frat row is awesome, tons of life… even on weekends.

UCD - huge. tons of bikers. can get pretty hot. lots of trees. has cows. buildings are new-ish looking. literally a college town.

UCSB - nice campus, sick beach, crazy party-life. i dont know though, if you are going to take academics seriously, ucsb is going to be hard, lol.

UCSD - the campus didnt impress me. it’s huge and reminds me of UCD… but with less-buildings and barely any life. the library is interesting to look at but once you go inside, reminds me of a community college library. the whole 6 college thing really divides up the school. but hey, la jolla is nice and the beach there is sick…especially for surfing.

UCI - a giant donut. very “asian” if you know what i mean… nice buildings but tons of construction. school is definitely a commuter school. nice surrounding area.

UCSC - very “woodsy”-like. great place to get high. other than that, wasn’t impressed at all.

i didnt care to see UCM or UCR… so bummer.

hope you enjoy your college tour. it’s really fun, especially when you go with friends. definitely check out Cal’s Campanile… when you are up there, it’s really impressive. great view!

Go Bears!

I hated UCI…I got accepted in High School and went to check it out…and realized everything about it was fail. All my Asian friends that didn’t get into UCLA/Cal/UCSD went to UCI and now they all commute…and pretty much live the same lifestyle they did in high school, which was go to school, study, go to rowland heights/diamond bar and eat/cue/other azn stuff.
