Going over the word limit

So I was wondering if going over the word limit by like 50 words is that big of a deal? I really can't cut it down anymore or the whole impact of my essay will be diminished.. what do you guys think? any stanford undergrads/grads went over the word limit and got in?

Did you copy paste your essay into the provided space yet? If you’re talking about the writing supplement essays (although I’m pretty sure it’s the same mechanism for the common app essay), you literally can’t enter more than the word limit or it tells you to remove words.

There are definitely people who’ve been admitted despite going over word limits. But that was before the new common app, which (I think) is strict about imposing word limits. If it’s going to cut you off mid-sentence, then you’ll need to cut.

It does cut you off at the word limit, so you need to heed the 250 words

oh crap you guys are right :frowning: thanks!
