Going to a CC and want to move out

Hi I’m a senior in high school and I plan to go to community college for two years and then transferr to a UC. I want to eventually become a high school English teacher. Unfortunately CC does not have dorm living arrangements and I don’t want to live at home anymore. I have a job and I make $12 an hour. I’m an 18 year old girl and I don’t know if it’s even possible for me to financially move out into an apartment. I am open to having roommates or living wherever I just don’t know where to start. I’ve been researching places but everything is so expensive. Is it possible for me to move out?

Are you attending a CC because you could not afford sleep away college? If so you really need to save as much money as possible. On the other hand I don’t blame you for wanting to move out and experience life on your own. Rents are crazy and I’m sure they are horrible in California. Why not attend CC for one year and save as much as possible and go to a college with dorms next year?

Yes I’m attending community college because the schools I got accepted/ applied to were all private schools and I didn’t really think anything out or plan very well and realize how expensive private schools are in comparison to Cal states and universities. If I had applied to a UC or cal state and got in I wouldn’t have this problem right now so I’m pretty upset with myself. Rents are crazy especially since I am by the beach. The solution you’re advising is probably the smartest option for my situation. Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to my post!
