I got accepted into UC Riverside (still awaiting the rest of my UC's) but i've been thinking if it was really worth going to a less prestigious UC such as Riverside vs going to a State school like San Jose State or a community college instead. I will most likely go into Computer Enginering, "San Jose State University powers the Silicon Valley, providing more engineering, science and business graduates to this high tech region than another college or university in the nation."

I'm not sure what UC R is famous for. Is there a way to check how many college graduates are hired? I'm worried if I graduate from UCR I wont be able to find a job of my choice.

Any tips would be helpful.

UC Riverside is famous for hybridizing the seedless navel orange.

One of their professors recently made the news in decoding the dna for spider silk

It have more diversity than is typical at the other UC's.

It is located very close to the San Bernardino mountain ski resorts at Big Bear

Everybody I know who attended UCR (for either grad or under grad) liked it very much once they got there.

The city of Riverside is beautiful in the winter (snow covered mountains) and spring (orange blossoms).

I've heard a few things about UCR's science program. But I have not heard much about their computer programs. Is it worth going to UCR just because its a "UC" instead of going to a computer specialized state university?

In my opinion, it would be easier to study at UCR. You will be more likely to see people who are more academically focused than at SJSU.
