Going-to-be business sophmore student looking for internships?

Completed my freshman year and now that it's summer I have nothing to do. I'm really lost to be honest, I have no idea where to look for relevant jobs/internships (I'm a commuter and I did not attend to any meetings/career fairs, etc., and looking online raises a lot of questions). Where can I start and what should I be doing? If I do nothing this summer, would it be a huge waste as I would have no experience if I were to try to find internship/job for next year?

Thanks. Any advice would be great, I'm really lost.

I’m in a similar situation, but I’m stuck working 40 hour weeks in a crappy retail job during the summer lol. I also have an internship, but I got it because of my brother and it’s related to journalism (not business, but I might get the accounting internship next summer). Still, like you, I’m wondering how to get involved with firms in NYC and get into an internship that will open up some doors.

Good that you have options, I think I’m too late to get one now. Everyday I wake up nervous and suffering from anxiety issues because I already completed my freshman year and I know I’m wasting this summer. I feel so useless and I’m pretty sure I’m screwed for next year when i have time for internship for next summer as I still haven’t acquired ANY experience. I really want to know at least HOW screwed I am as a business student in the near future who has done nothing thus far this summer, because right now, I don’t know WHAT to expect and that’s truthfully frightening.

MindStormer calm down. If you have nothing to do this summer, get a job somewhere, anywhere. Any work experience is good. Lots of students don’t get internships, especially sophomores. Do well in school and think about joining a club that interests you.

The career fairs are announced well in advance, and they usually publish a list of what businesses will be attending. You can get resume advice at the business school too, so try getting your resume together this summer, and then get it reviewed when you’re back at school.
