going to CC or Third tire?

Hi, I am an senior international student who came to the U.S 2 years ago.

I only got into some "safety" universities. :(

And I want to give it one more try for my dream school.

(I don't think about the ivys.)

well, so, I am thinking about going to the CC and transfer,

but I don't know if it is a right choice. tell me which is a better choice.

help me out please.. thanks!

i think you should go for the CC.
it’ll probably cost you much less, and most colleges give special consideration to community college transfers over lower-tier universities. attending a CC also provides a very easy-to-explain reason for transfer.

I also agree with going to a CC. If it doesn’t work out with your dream schools, you could always transfer into the third tier schools(i doubt their admissions for transfer is that difficult)

I know someone who got into Central Michigan (1st school in 4th tier) with a 1.9 gpa out of a CC.

thanks for replying guys.
I’ll probably go to the cc…
it’s bummer that most cc is a commuter campus!! :(

whats this dream school?

Go visit your closest community college, and have an appointment with one of the transfer advisors. They can explain the exact steps needed to transfer into the state universities that they have agreements with. Many community colleges also have agreements with private colleges and universities. By choosing one of these direct transfer programs, provided you complete the series of courses with the GPA required you will be guaranteed admission to the other college/university.

Some community colleges do have residence halls, but even then many of the students do commute. One that I know has residence halls is Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa. If you want a “dorm” experience, you can find it but you may have to look outside your state.

Here is a list of community colleges by state:

Wishing you all the best!
