Going to college abroad for two years?

I have been traveling internationally ever since I was little, so I have a lot of experience with traveling and being in foreign countries where I am the minority. Traveling has made me love different cultures, and therefore want a job internationally in the future. I am planning on going to college to major in international business, minor in Italian, and then go to law school (I want to do a form of international or business law) so I am looking at 7-8 years of college. I eventually would like a job at an embassy if possible in the foreign affairs department dealing with law. Of all the countries I have traveled to, I loved Italy the most. I know basic Italian (not enough for full conversation) but enough to do basic communication. I also have quite a few friends in Italy (specifically Rome). I have my heart set on going to college the first two years at John Cabot University which is in Rome. It is an ENGLISH university, and gives you an english degree. I DO NOT just want to study abroad for a semester, or even a year, so please, don't just suggest doing that. I have done a lot of research on this topic, and found that it is best to study abroad the first two years because you do not have as great of a work load as you would your junior or senior year of college. Ultimately, I may end up staying there for all four years, and coming back here for law school for the reason that besides the UK, we have better law schools here. There is just one problem. My parents do not like the idea. And this is mainly for the fact that they don't have any reassurance on any of their worries. I am seeking responses from people who have experienced college abroad and can give me their opinion. Please don't just suggest not doing it, because I know it's what I want, and I want to put the "international" in my international business degree. I am just curious as to people's thoughts on going for two years, and also how easy/hard it was to adapt right away? This is the least of my worries because I am so used to traveling, but I am still interested in hearing. My parents are very worried about how far away I will be (we live in Wisconsin) and the safety of the school. Any answers from people who have experienced college internationally would be great! Thanks :)
