Sorry I posted my previous thread in the wrong place. So anyways:

Hi guys, I am currently in a tough situation that I would like to get advise in other to move forward with my life. I am a 2 year student in community college. My gpa is not good at all (2.5). I am really not liking the experience I am having and am really struggling to be motivated. It is not that I am lazy but for some reason I can not stay focused or put effort into my work. It is also not that I am "dumb" or anything, this past spring quarter I pulled of a 3.5 gpa taking some rigorous courses. And I am having a lot of pressure put on me though parents and the general society. I am incredibly depressed and struggling to produce the energy needed to be productive.

Obviously I can not transfer anywhere useful. My goal has always been to be a med student in radiology. I was born in India, moved to the US when I was 3 and have actually never been back (Currently a US citizen). I think it would best for me to move away from the US (away from all the distractions)

My question is what steps do I have to take to move/ go to college in India for premed and what not?
Can I leave as soon as this upcoming winter quarter?
What schools would you recommend me looking at and is this a viable option in order for me to have a good future?

Thank You very much.

It will be hard in India too. Good Medical schools in India are very difficult to get in. My mom went to AIIMS and she worked hard to get into the school because only 50 kids get in out of 10000.

India does not have a premed program. Indian undergrad students are medical students. Undergrad medicine in India is a 5 year program that upon completion allows a student to work as a doctor.
Admission to some Indian universities, like AIIMS (which is the best) is through exams, while others like Manipal University allow NRIs admission to their medicine program on the basis of their final high school marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (you’ve got to have all 3).

Thank You both for replying to my topic and giving me some great advise. I had not even heard of those schools to be honest with you, but now i have some information to work from and how to approach my parents with it.

Any other advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Why do you want to transfer to India? Well according to me the only viable option for you is Manipal University. Email them, explain your situation, tell them the courses you’ve taken up in college and ask them if you are eligible for admission.

I’d suggest you work day and night, get something close to a 4.0 taking difficult courses and also apply to some American universities. Who knows, maybe you’ll get into one of the good ones?
