Going to College, Knowing You're Going to Transfer

No, I will not go to a CC. I know I will waste money, thanks.

Anyway, has anyone gone to college as a freshmen with this mindset? The problem is I applied to most of my school already and they're all the same criteria. Small, liberal arts, in New England. I thought this is what I wanted. Actually, I do want it, I think.

I remember a thread a while back something like "apply to an out-of-the-box" college, I should have taken that advice. Maybe it's the coldness that is New Jersey, or the recent snowfall. I don't know! But something makes me want to get out of here. I mean I still love it here, but I think I need a change.

I've already applied to about ten schools, a lot IMO. So I was thinking of applying as a transfer either for sophomore year or for the spring semester. I know going into this kind of mindset is horrible and maybe in a few months I'll feel differently about it, but right now I need a change of scenery. Also, I did not do too well in high school, I had about a 3.5 and an 1860. I was thinking of working my butt of the first semester and transferring.

Opinions? Advice? Maybe I'm thinking too into this. I don't know. I'm pretty indecisive, as of now.

Some people have done this, fallen in love with their college and not transferred. Some people have done this and transferred.

Whatever you do, pick a college to go to next fall that you would enjoy. Don’t just randomly pick a college thinking that you’ll plan to transfer. If you hate where you attend college, you won’t be likely to get the grades to transfer to anything but community college.

Thanks, and I think I know what you mean. I do want to have fun at my “first” college. I’ll definitely be living on campus have fun, party and all that stuff while hopefully maintaining a high GPA. But like I said I think I’d be happier getting away from it all (away from the NE that is). And of course if I do fall in love with my college, I guess I’ll stay. I just don’t know how likely that will be.
