Going to college

Guys I am a junior at a high school in MS. I am a minority and just arrived at US my sophomore year. I did not know a lot about AP classes and other stuffs from which i could get a scholarship. Now when I do its already late but i have told my counselor that I want to take AP classes my senior year. I want to go to a 4 year college with a scholarship. So could you guys please help me what i can improve in a year so that i would atleast get a scholarship.

Did you take any SAT/ACT?

I took ACT and since i didn’t know what it looked like I got a 24 which i later knew it is really not that good so i am working on it now…
What else should i do??

Any extra-curricular? Leadership positions?

Ask yourself, WHY should colleges give you scholarship over other admitted applicants.

Edit**

24 on ACT is pretty low btw.

Well until now I have a 4.0 GPA on a 4 scale which has only 1 accelerated class (ACC.) and I do play soccer. I have some amount of community service hours. I am destined to be a MS Scholar when i graduate in 2015… I have no in-school or out school suspensions if that counts and I don’t have a referral. I am ranked top 15 in my graduating class.

Gotta get those test scores up. If you have a low family income, scholarships should grow on trees for you.

@Mandalorian what would be the ideal score that I should be targeting…

Sat 2000+ act 30+
