Does anybody know where to find the % of undergraduate students that continue to grad school from any college in general? Is it in the common data set?
Thanks,

bump…bump…

I don’t know if it’s in the common data set, but it has come up here before:

(Note that the second thread, despite the title, ends up talking about more than the Ivies.)

Be wary of that data. I’m generally not overly impressed by PhD production unless it says where students actually end up going to graduate school. There is a difference between sending one student to a history PhD program at Harvard and two to a history PhD program at UAB.

Although Beloit may send a higher percentage of students to graduate school than Cornell, say, it definitely does not mean it has better placement.

Thank you for the info, I will look at it carefully tonight but I’m not sure that’s what I’m looking for.
Let me explain a little better: I would like to know what percentage of undergraduates from a particular school continues their education and go to graduate school. Two reasons I think this is important: if a large portion goes to grad school (whether the same school or elsewhere) that means that an undergraduate degree from that school is accepted at other schools; it also means that students at that school are well motivated and like learning.
My D is a junior and doesn’t really care for name schools, but wants to continue her education, although she is not sure what to major in.
Thanks again.

Yeah, I’d be interested to know percentages going on to graduate school in general (and not just PhDs).

So here is the question: what percentage of undergraduates from a particular college goes to grad school?
I was told this is important and should be considered when comparing schools.
What do you think?
