Hello everyone,

I am very disappointed in myself. I have studied so incredibly hard on the last exam because I know I needed to get at least a B to have a chance at getting a B in the class. The teacher assigned various target problems which would be similar problems on the exam. I knew how to do all of them and I mastered them...

..Then I get to the test and only HALF of the problems from the target list were on the exam. I got really bad test anxiety because I knew I was not going to get a B on this exam. I misread a couple of the target problems as well. I COMPLETELY bombed the exam and received a 3/10.

I will need to get an A- on the final to get a C+ and a B+ on the final to get a C. I will likely not pass this course. I know getting those grades on a final is pretty unrealistic based on what I have already received.

I am a 3rd year transfer student with a GPA of 3.73. I have never performed so poorly in a class before. I have an A so far in Calc 2, but will need to re-take this. Usually its the other way around from what I hear. What has me even more worried is I know engineering is only going to become even more difficult (I am a Comp Sci major). Is this a bad sign that I am going to need to take my first Physics course? Do you guys have any advice? I feel horrible and so disappointed in myself. I can't stop thinking about it. Has anyone else in Engineering ever had a problem with one of their pre-req's for Engineering?

Thanks for any advice guys! Truly appreciate it.

Stop worrying. Everyone has a bad experience with a class, and physics is no joke. Stop freaking out, and give it another whirl next quarter.

In ten years, do you think it will make a difference that you took Physics I, twice?

I’m a mechanical engineer student and I myself have had a hard time with some preq. courses. Is the prof. not good, from my experience physic teachers seem to be not so good at explaining the material? But if you have to take it over you should be fine considering you have a good idea of the material already. Don’t worry it will be fine.

I would say its somewhat the teachers fault. I have to resort to a LOT help via Solutions Manuals to see how to work problems out. Once I see how to begin a problem it is very simple. The teacher never does any problems during lecture. She briefly discusses conceptual problems, but rarely goes over examples from the textbooks and applies the formulas we have learned to them.

I actually found out I should be able to pass this class after all! I originally thought the T-Scores were all added and that was your final grade. I did not realize that it is the AVERAGE of the T-Score! As long as I achieve at LEAST a -1.00 after the (which is about a D+) I should be able to pass with a C. If I can get a 0.3 (B-) after the curve I will be able to finish with a C+ (What I am aiming for).

I should definitely be able to attain at least a -1.00 on the final so I will be studying hard to make sure I can get that C+ at the very least. I would have preferred a B, but I would rather take the C+ than take it all over again.

Thanks for the reassurance guys! I would feel much better if I do end up needing to re-take it, but I should be just fine to take Physics 2 in the fall. :)
