Going to London for a week?

Hi I got invited to go to London for a week in December with my college. It costs $2500 and includes everything except souvenirs. My parents support me whichever i choose. My dad said i can go \during my study abroad in europe and it will be cheaper but i worry that london will be to far from spain and i will be going to other countries and london will be too far. do you agree?

That sounds like a very large amount of money for one week, but I don’t know what it includes. December is never going to be the best time of year. It will be dark at 4pm.

Getting from Spain to London is extrmely cheap and easy because Spain is the most popular country for British people to go on holiday. There are literally hundreds of flights per day from all parts of Spain. I think it is very unlikely that you will study abroad somewhere with no possibility of cheap flights (this applies to all northern European countries really. Everyone vacations in Spain).

Hi! I actually studied abroad in London last spring. It will DEFINITELY be doable to go to London when you’re studying abroad in Spain. I never had any desire to travel to Spain, but I did go to Poland and Greece from London for Spring Break, so anything is doable. Plus, you could always ship your luggage home when the semester ends and take a backpack and go backpacking to these areas. It will also be much cheaper to go to London when you’re already over in Europe.

I’m a senior at NYU myself and I would totally recommend trying to get involved with a volunteer program to another country for a week or two and going to a less industrialized country. I know my school has an international volunteers program to latin american countries - countries where you wouldn’t want to spend months studying, but where it would be beneficial going for two weeks to volunteer. In addition to studying abroad, I’ve also completed two two-week trips with Habitat for Humanity to Kenya and Indonesia. Although the trips are somewhat expensive - volunteer fee ~2000 + airfare, I’d say something like that would be the best complement to your education if you’re interested in travel.
