Anyone going to Experience MHC on Arril 17-18th? Or going to the Experience Diversity program? MHC offered to fly me out from California so I'm sooo ecstatic!!! I just turned in my transportation request thing five minutes ago online and it's April 1st, 8:30pm ET- think it'll matter? I really hope not. I found out that I was admitted on Monday, didn't really look at the packet and just now, started flipping through the pages and found out that they're willing to fly me out. So...I hope they'll accept it and I hope to meet some of you there~!

hey skybaker, congrats. i would also like to joing you, but unfortunately they don't fly me out... how does your offer look like? and is the offer to pay your ticket connected with the family income?

Hi everyone. First and foremost, congrats to you both! I received my letter of acceptance last week, and I am THRILLED!! Are you two likely to enroll?
Skybaker, I will also be attending the Experience MHC weekend. I registered/booked my flight today. So excited! :)
dacutewabbit, I'm sorry you won't be able to attend.

My daughter will be at the Experience MHC weekend too. She is really looking forward to it. I personally think it is great that Mount Holyoke invites the ED students to attend.
No flight for her though....we live about 1 hour away from MHC.

Many of my cousins who are already in university stressed the importance of visiting schools before making the "final decision." I'd like to get a feel for the campus just to confirm that it's the right place for me. Otherwise, I get a "warm and fuzzy" feeling about MHC everytime I visit their website or talk to someone from the admissions office (so friendly!) :)
My mom, an MHC alum, is also looking forward to the visit. When I asked if I could go for the weekend, she immediately volunteered to come along. :)

i'm so excited! I hope I meet all of you there! and the letter said that flew me out for my academic and leadership ability, but I think you should call them up anyway and see if they'll consider paying for your flight, dacutewabbit. I can't wait! Sadly, my school prom will be four days after I get back.

Does anyone know if we'll be staying on campus the whole time?

Skybaker, based on the schedule of events they have posted for the Experience MHC weekend, it looks as though we are spending the entire time on campus.

I look forward to meeting everyone as well. This is all so exciting!!

i'm going to Experience MHC although i'm a bit anxious! i guess i'll see some of you there!

I wish I could go! But paying for a plane ticket and then the drive from the airport is too much money for just 24 hours :(.

i thought it was like a couple days..I'm flying out on Friday, leaving on Tuesday. Maybe it's because I'm asian and I'm going to the diversity thing. I think being asian has its real plusses in college admissions-sometimes

Yeah I just signed up. Sorry to all of you who have to fly:(...I live in Connecticut, so I'm driving. I'm really excited though

a little (a day) over a week from now, we will be at MHC meeting one another - all giddy and excited. :D

Hoping that my dd can attend but she's still waiting for finaid info. Can't go to MHC if we can't afford it. Plus she would need to find cheap airfare -- pretty tough with less than a week. I want her to visit MHC since we could not afford for her to tour colleges before she applied. Ironically, the local alumnae club is hosting a celebration for accepted students on 4/17!

My daughter did not visit MHC before applying. We hoped she would be able to visit after acceptance but it won't happen due to late-arriving financial aid info. Thus, she will not see the campus before orientation next fall.

If any of you take digital pictures and/or digital video, could you post it somewhere. My daughter would love to see some views of campus. (We think the MHC web site is kinda' skimpy on pix!) Thanks so much!

I'm sorry to hear that your daughter won't be able to make it this weekend :(

I am taking a digi-cam with me, and plan on taking plenty of pictures. I will be more than happy to post them here.

asympotato - Thank you! We're looking forward to seeing your pictures! Also, please pass along your impressions of whether MHC feels very isolated/out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere. I know that Amherst is very close but have heard it takes awhile by bus

And to everyone else who is going: Please post your "trip report!"

Amherst is about 25 minutes away by car. Of the Five Colleges, the UMass/Amherst-MHC axis is the longest.

boxmaker, the Mount Holyoke campus is gorgeous, especially in the Fall. No photos can really do it justice. If your D cares about beautiful surroundings , MHC will not disappoint her!

Getting to Amherst by 5-college bus is no problem and MHC students who want to go there often can and do. Also, 2 hours to Boston is not bad if you need some city life.

I met a gentleman at the airport whose daughter goes to Smith but is taking a class at MHC. He called her and then called me to report that the Smith/MHC ride is 40f minutes.

i am currently sitting in the mount holyoke library right now! its pretty nice, but the campus isn't as pretty as i thought it would be. possibly because its the beginning of spring with everything dead. everyone's really nice here. i like my host, i like other people's hosts, and i like the buildings, although i just came from middlebury about three days ago and that campus, including the library blows mhc away. i was a bit diappointed at the all girls' atmosphere here, cuz i thought it'd be a lot more intimate, but some people don't know who the person living in the same dorm is. lesbians are present too. its not crawling with it, but you definitely see them. i noticed that there are many asian lesbians, which i find surprising. it's a saturday night and there is an adequate number of girls around in the library. im going to see Prison of Women, a play tonight on campus while a couple other prospies go to the a cappella jam. then there's a party at Blanchard from 10pm-2. i almost never go to parties, especially those that start at 10. college life will be so different... sigh. im going to miss my mommie so much!
