I am going to the april 20-21 princeton preview, which is a wednesday to thursday. I was wondering if I would get any real exposure to the party scene there, besides just the eating club panel. Do hosts often bring prefrosh to any parties during preview, considering it’s on a wednesday night and not a normal party night?
If not, what do we do after 10 when all the organized events are over?
I’m going to the Preview in a couple days, on a Monday/Tuesday so I assume there won’t be anything. But if anyone going to that one wants to try to find a pregame with me, send me a message!
@ALibertarian, let me know how it goes!!
Not trying to be difficult here - but what are you hoping to learn? And what is a “pregame”?
Please do not go to a party or try to get drunk when you are here for preview. If you are irresponsible, your student host will be responsible for you even if he/she was not involved in your choice to drink. Please just wait until you get to campus as an official student.
@fretfulmother - To “pre-game” is to drink in a semi private setting such as a dorm room prior to going out to a party. I can’t imagine a less productive way to try to make a final decision on which college to attend.
@sherpa - thank you for the explanation! I would agree with your sentiments. Um, is it a common thing for the kind of prefrosh considering Princeton to be desiring to do that? My son is totally not that type. (Loves to have fun, but would not consider drinking alcohol to be the goal either before or during the fun.) One of his favorite things about MIT’s visit weekend was how the kids were diverse enough to have plenty of other ways of “blowing off steam” available, from giant bubbles to board games to running around doing active stuff. (And MIT is certainly not immune to the alcohol scene for those who seek it!)
I doubt it is Princeton specific and many of the same students were probably at MIT last weekend along with your son and I am sure many managed to drink if they were so inclined. When my S was at MIT preview he rolled around in an inflatable ball, rode a horse across campus, smashed old computers with a sledge hammer, and did some form of zip lining, just to name a few of the activities, and I am 100% sure he would never have done any of those things again as a student.
My favorite though, are the inquiries both this year and last concerning the possibility of “hooking up” during Princeton Preview. Bear in mind that last year it wasn’t even an overnight, it was just a Preview Day!!!
@planner03 that is a relief. I’m sure you are right!
Just goes to show that being book smart doesn’t equate to having common sense.
