as of right now my GPA is not the best, it's a c+/b- average, a 2.78
i have the opportunity of going to prep school for a post graduate year with a football scholarship
but i want to go ahead on to college right after high school
i don't want to spend another year

with my gpa n SAT's now i can get into a decent school

but from what I've heard, post grad allows you to get into very good schools

what do you guys think?

post grad year or go on to a regular university after a 4 year high school?

Your gpa is too low to be competitive into anything above a low-ranked state university (directional states, etc.) I would definitely recommend beefing up your resume by taking a valid prep school program, especially if you are aiming for a degree from a well-respected state school or private university. Not only will your resume take a boost, it will also give you another chance to develop the study skills and work habits needed to succeed at a 4-year university.

Many students who struggled in high school jump into college-level coursework and end up suffering, not because they are stupid or foolish or anything but because they have never developed the necessary study skills; unlike high school, college professors dont have the time or inclination to micromanage your time, assign lots of busy work to force you to study and to inflate your grade, and curve your grade whenever Mommy or Daddy come by to whine at them. Often, you just get a midterm, a final, and maybe one or two projects and wham bam that’s your grade.

So, yeah, definitely prep school. It will give you time to learn how to balance athletic and academic work and prepare you for college, as well as making it more likely that you will get into a college that is worth the tuition.

my grades suffer mainly form my freshman yr
i had a bad transition from middle school to high school

my parents would rather have me to go low tier school college, get good grades and than transfer

they understand the prep school idea, they’re 50/50 about it

What prep schools are you talking about ? I recommend go to a prep school, learn study habits, beef up your resume and you will be competing in a better football league so if you shine there better tiered college will recruit you so idk consider it. Good Luck !

avon old brook and westminster both in ct
but i really want to go to deerfield, since it’s a bit closer to home but it’s very competitive there and i don’t know how their football coach may feel about me going there

and i also do track and field

Well email all the coaches, send them some videos of you playing football. I’m not too sure about the rest sorry.

yea, that’s what i was thinking about doing

quick question
how does the whole college application process work as a post grad
because college apps are due early, how can colleges see improvements in my grade by just looking at one term in post grad

anyone knows how the college app process is as a PG?

It’s similar to applying to undergrad, except instead of the SAT you take something called a Preparatory Placement Exam administered by the school you have attended upon paying the deposit. You will be placed into one of several ranks and you’ll take classes on a block schedule similar to high school depending on your situation.
