I have a similar post on this site, but I'm not sure if it's in the this forum/thread (whatever it's called-sorry, I'm kind of internet illiterate)
I'm just wondering if there's anybody out there who's in a situation similar to mine.
I'm a 3.2 GPA student who's fairly good at writing (A in AP Lang-5 on exam, 690 SAT reading, 700 writing) and will have strong recommendations as well as a (hopefully) kickass essay. I'll have taken 3 honors classes and 6 APs by the time I graduate. I plan on interviewing.

Anyway, the main purpose of this post is just to see if there are any similar students looking to go to SLC. Up until middle of junior year (this past school year), I wasn't all that enthusiastic about college until I discovered Sarah Lawrence, so I didn't apply myself as much as I should've, but now that I've found my dream school, I'm panicking because I probably won't get in. Oh, and let me add that even if I am admitted, chances are I probably won't be able to go because of the price tag (even w/ average aid).

I'm contemplating applying ED but I'm afraid to. It's binding, and while I know the school lets you forfeit from ED admissions if you can't afford it, I'm worried that how the school views affordable and what 'affordable' will actually be for my family is very different.

So...anybody else in the same boat?

Hello, my daughter is an incoming freshman at Sarah Lawrence. The one thing I do know to tell you is that this year’s applicants will be the first to have their SAT scores even considered (if you wish), so that will help you. I think you have a good chance of getting in! As far as aid, there aid calculators available online, whereby you enter your family’s basic financial info and your EFC will be approximated. My daughter did receive substantial merit aid, though we did not qualify for need-based aid (she had a 3.7 gpa, but did not interview). If you are a strong writer, I would definitely apply.

Your GPA may be low, but Sarah Lawrence seems like a school that looks past that sort of thing. This article really eased my nerves about SLC admission. I think you should read it: [A Look Inside Sarah Lawrence’s Admissions Room – New York Magazine](A Look Inside Sarah Lawrence’s Admissions Room -- New York Magazine - Nymag)

My3Daughters: Thank for the info, I really appreciate it! I will definitely apply and send my test scores! Good luck to your daughter!

Marinozai: Thanks for the article-it was really soothing to see that the admissions counselors really do look at each individual candidate. Are you a high senior looking to go to Sarah Lawrence next year?

Yeah, I’m applying this fall. I visited and interviewed a few weeks ago… Now comes the essay writing process.

When they ask about the writing–don’t shrug!!
