Well it is possible to transfer out of on year from being at SDSU. But it’s very unlikely you can, seeing as though you need to fit the minimum of at least 60 semeter or 90 quarter units transferrable units to be eligible to transfer. Also it is harder to transfer from a university to the UC’s. Due to the fact that top priority for transfer admissions is given to community college students.

Courses you would need to take are major prereqs for your major and the fulfillment of at least the minimum of 60 semester/90 quarter units.

You Can do the following:

16 Credits this summer, then take 22 credits in the fall and winter respectively. I did it. It was Easy as ****.

Good luck with that - if you really want to go to a UC plan on attending a California Community College - if you don’t want to do that you better be happy with staying at SDSU. California Community College kids are accepted before others…

Jacob

Yes, very little chance of going from SDSU to UCSD, and pretty much no chance in a year. Go to a community college with a guaranteed transfer agreement and you’ll be there in 2 years.

oh wow! really?
why is it that community college students get in easier??

Simply because that’s the way the state has set up the system. The UC’s are overcrowded and they wanted more students to start at a CC so they guarantee transfer for modest grades. Of course the CC’s are now overcrowded too but that’s another story. Maybe you’ll like SDSU more than you think.

hmmm…maybe. i actually dont know anymore.
this cc thing seems very stupid to me. then what about CSUs?
why is it that they dont have better transfer rates when their school is slightly better then a CC? that doesnt make any sense!!!

agua101 - The cc thing seems stupid to you cause you don’t get it. Just think about it. Where do Community College students graduate? They need to go somewhere to graduate. CSU’s already have somewhere to graduate. Thus, community college students get priority into transferring to a college to graduate.

If you don’t want to go to a CC fine your loss. TAG is one of the greatest things for community college students that guarentees them to all the UC’s (UCI, UCSD, UCSB, UCSC, UCD, UCR, UC Merced, UCSF) except UCLA and Berkeley. They also have special programs like TAP that helps in additional priority to UCLA, UCB, acceptance into UCI Honors Program, and guarentee admissions to Pomona College. And above that they already have priority to transfer to the UC’s above any other applicant that is either an out of state, UC to UC transfer, CSU to UC transfer, and private institution.

Agua, all the info you need is readily available. Google is your friend. Your high school counselor also knows ofthis. If you’re not going to take the time to do the research necessary for your future, SDSU is where your degree will be from and you can compete with the other 8,000 grads for mediocre jobs.

yes yes. ive been on the google frenzy.
so HMOM5, r u saying that going to SDSU wld = a mediocre job?

It will only equal a mediocre job if youre mediocre. If SDSU was good enough for the CEO of Costco and the deputy director of the Johnson Space Center, then its good enough for everyone else.

The vast majority of SDSU grads are considered for midiocre jobs at best. Do your research, get a great GPA and get out.

4 posts in a thread by Hmom5 without referring to “elite” this or that must be some type of record. I wonder how long trying to belittle students’ accomplishments under the guise of “speaking pure truth” will stay fun for her. It’s really very sad.

After 53 years on the planet I’m pretty sure I’ll never tire of telling the truth as I see it. I’m thinking that’s what most come here for but I suppose politically correct works better for some…

Your venom towards kids wanting the best school they can get into is interesting. Here’s what you leveled at another poster earlier this week posting their opinion that UCSB is stronger than UCLA:

^^ Typical idiot that can’t see past prestige. It’s pretty sad you were raised so when you hear a name like UCLA or UCB you start foaming at the mouth.

Fell free to get the bad education of your choice, but why try to hinder others with your misguided advice? How long will your anger at the world be fun for you?

I would never attack someone just because they believed that one school is more prestigious than another, especially when I know they are correct. What bothered me was the same thing that bothers me so much about you; you choose to convey your information at the expense of putting others down. It wasn’t like the other user I responded to had just said (like you make it out to seem) “I believe UCLA is stronger than UCSB”. The actual quote I responded to was more like “you would have to be an idiot to choose UCSB”.

The put downs are clearly in your mind. People are answering questions on this forum asked by kids who want a better educational situation than the ones they find themselves in. They want to make decisions that will land them in the best possible place in life. Helping them requires honesty about the prospects from different places. Your attacks are about you, not other posters.

About me? You retaliate to my post by alluding to “my choice of a bad education”, which just completely validates what I am saying. You can’t defend yourself without as I said before belittling my choice in education. I wonder how other parents would respond if I dug though your search history as you did mine and posted some of the cruel things you’ve said to students. I bet they would be so interested to know if their kids aren’t attending HYPS they’re wasting their money. I was accepted to a tier-1 university yet I chose a “bad education”, so I’m curious to know at what point are you actually getting a good one?

I have no clue what your choice of education is, it took me about four posts down to see your MO. My message is to choose any old education that suits you and to stop trying to get posters to not post what you feel is politically incorrect.

Here’s the value of forums like this–hearing opinions from all corners.

This is true, but you act like the only people that see the responses are the people that asked the question originally. Sure someone that is gunning to transfer to a better school from say sdsu (to stay in line with this thread) won’t mind hearing that their prospects if they stay are “mediocre”, but what about everyone else that sees your thread that isn’t? You can’t say I’m the only ones that’s felt like your comments are put downs – I’ve seen multiple people on this board respond to you in exactly the same way I am.
