Do you just get out of your seat and leave the room without saying anything? What if the professor is lecturing or having a discussion (in a class of 20 or 30 students)?

I'd leave stealthily.

Ask for the hall pass.

You are all adults, adults with natural biological needs. Yes it would be a much better decision to go before class, but I think it's better to sneak out than further disrupt by asking or something like that.

Just walk out and don't make much noise. This isn't middle school.

Just walk out. If it's a small class I'd really plan ahead and try not to have to leave in the middle though. I've had people ask if they had to ask to leave the bathroom (my freshman year) and just get laughed at. Do ask during a test though! (you can get in trouble for leaving and trying to come back)

We have to ask teacher's to go to the bathroom. Only in one class were we just allowed to get up.

Ilovesoftball, aren't you still in high school?

^Was just going to ask if that was the case.

just leave... but if at all possible you should be able to go before or after the 50 minute window (or the 75/80, however long your TR classes are, minute window)

if it's anything less than 15 students and your prof is actually talking, then just slowly get up and motion to the door and they'll nod or something. anything more than 15ish, just leave quietly.

If you think you're gonna have bathroom issues throughout the year, just sit at the desk closest to the door. Usually the classrooms (well, at my school they do) have a front door and a back door. Sit in the back (if you hate the front) and when you have to go, just sneak out and sneak back in.
I do that because well, I get paranoid. Especially about not being able to leave the room when I have to go to the bathroom!

People just leave, quietly. Same goes for when they find they absolutely must answer their phone during class, or have a coughing fit and need a drink of water, etc. Personally I think it's kind of rude to leave in the middle class and I would try to minimize it...go beforehand, go afterwards, don't drink 4 cups of coffee every morning, whatever. Sneaking out to chat on the phone with your boyfriend about what you're doing that night is rude as well...it can wait.

It's funny because I have a lot of 3 hour classes with undergrad students, and in these classes we always get a 10 minute break in the middle and half the class leaves at least once to use the bathroom - a certain few people will leave 3-4 times during a class. I had one 3-hour class with grad students and no break, and people rarely left and I never so much as even saw a phone.

Raise your hand and obnoxiously ask "CAN I GO TO THE BATHROOM?"

Just kidding. And besides, we all know you can. It's "may I". So no hall pass for you :-)

In all honesty, I'd try NOT to go during class. Go in between classes or something, and if you have to leave a class, just duck out of the room without distrupting anything.

just leave quietly. it's college now you don't need hall passes or permission. just try to create as little disturbance as possible.

Just leave, nobody really cares.

i've gone during class HS and college. screw what other ppl think , when you gotta go you gotta go

U might feel like a jerk / jagoff when u leave but ull be glad u did the minute u enter the stall / step in front of the urinal. ur bod will preciate.
