Ok so this isnt an ordinary transfer story so please listen carefully… anyways, heres the deal… Ive done nearly screwed my education up and am really trying to patch it up right now. Heres my story. I started community college in the fall of 2015 originally doing Computer Science based on parents desires. Now ive failed and retaken computer science courses and I just dont feel like im getting anywhere with this degree and its not for me. I have had a lot of friends I know switch from Comp Sci and engineering to IT or BCIS. I’m really starting to get my thoughts straight and work on doing this too because at this point I’m beating a dead horse, I have no interest to learn computer science and im never going to have the enthusiasm to do so:(. I stayed in collin only and until 2017 when i finished my general associates of sciences and in fall of 2017, for 3-4 weeks I was taking 2 classes(coding) after I had transferred from Collin community. I had a family issue which caused me to drop the classes and my dad insisted i do CCNA instead and do a associate of computer science at collin. So I dropped the classes at UNT. I had already been accepted to UNT at this point so I was an enrolled student and in their system. So for the rest of the fall semester I had only taken the classes I needed to finish my associate of science at Collin. I took Spring semester off as a break to work and Im now back at collin only to finish 2 comp sci classes and Ive been studying for CCNA in the meantime. Just today I came to the realization while studying for my comp organization class that I need to switch to IT. so basically went to the advisor and they gave me a transfer guide to shjow what I had to take at UNT. Anyways, what Im begging to know is im trying to drop the 2 comp sci classes Im taking right now at collin and have them switched to accounting and macroeconomics whic are basic classes required for IT at UNT. I am wondering is it a good idea right now to make a switch from computer science to accounting or would I might as well finish these classes Im taking and finish my A.S. in comp sci? Also I already have 80 attempted hours at Community College, does UNT transfer these credits or do they start anew? because they state that students who exceed 30 credit hours beyond their degree have to pay out of state tuition. If I start with brand new credits once transferring Im in the clear as I’ll try not to fail and retake any classes at the Uni, but if my collin credits transfer, im messed. I know Im a bit unorganized but at this point in my education, I’ve messed up my degree choice and Im trying to make things better for myself now. I really want to just leave computer science altogether and start fresh with IT. I am considerably done wasting my effort. I also want to know pros and cons of UNT’s IT program. This is also the second week of college if that helps make things clear for the dropping and adding classes.
