Goizueta vs Kelley School of Business

Hello,

I am a senior in high school who plans on majoring in business- most likely management or marketing. I'm fortunate enough to have been offered a full ride to Indiana University Bloomington/ Kelley School of Business but have also been fortunate enough to be accepted into Emory. My question is, considering it would cost me about $56,000 a year including room & board, do you find attending Emory in the hopes of getting into Goizueta worth giving up the scholarship for?

Thank you so much!

No idea, but Goizueta is ranked #18, while Kelley is ranked #22. You should visit them and see which university you like better. Good luck choosing!

56,000 X 4 = $226,000. Is there any way you can use some of that money to further your educational or career goals?

In my 3.5 years here, I don’t know a single person who got into Emory and didn’t get into Goizueta. EVERYONE gets in pretty much. Unless you do something dumb (like commit a felony), but then you have other problems to worry about anyway.

If you’re going into Management, I wouldn’t care much about the 230k… You’ll make it back once you graduate.

If you’re thinking of a low income career, then I wouldn’t spend 230k on Emory. Unnecessary financial stress on you and your folks.

Theatregirl–congrats on your acceptances. Full rides aren’t easy to come by and jobs making 6 figures aren’t the norm for most college grads. In my opinion, the best choice is to go to IU. The money you save can be put towards grad school or could supplement your parent’s retirement—can you tell I’m a parent? If going to Emory would require taking out any student loans, I would recommend using one of those online calculators to figure out what you would owe on a monthly basis. I have friends still paying off loans from grad school well into their 40s and beyond. Of course the decision is yours to make. Good luck with whatever you decide!
