We came into the admissions process with our child looking to go to Emory and then apply to Goizueta for accounting in sophomore year. Applied to other schools also, but Emory was first choice (older child went there, so we are familiar with it).

Wound up being accepted at IU and accepted to their Kelley School of business. Waiting to hear from Emory. Getting into Kelley now beats wondering if they'd get into Goizueta in 2 years. And IU has a 5 year program to get the required hours for the CPA exam. Emory said they are looking to develop that.

Any thoughts on Kelley / IU vs. Goizueta / Emory? Comparable reputation? Kelley is much larger (that was another plus for Emory / goizueta - smaller school). I hear the buildings / campus are as nice as Emory.

A key point for me is will they get a job when they graduate?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Goizueta does really well for accounting placement. Lots of friends who do that in Atlanta now (and a couple who asked and received a transfer to other offices).

And apparently he’ll have a job.

I don’t know about IU, but I’d guess that accounting really drops off after the Big 4 - But they have so much turnover and are such big companies, I’m sure they recruit from IU pretty hard…

My son is a sophomore at Emory who has just started in the Goizueta BBA program as a Spring (early) Admit. His roommate, also a sophomore, is a transfer this year from Kelley (IU) and is planning to apply to Goizueta this spring for Fall admission. His reason for transfer was that he felt Emory was a better school. He is happy with his decision thus far.
